Leyla McCalla lives in New Orleans, where she can be heard in local clubs, on Royal Street and on the radio. She also works as a teaching artist for the New Orleans Strings Project. Leyla has worked as an accompanist for many wonderful artists such as Mos Def and Morgan O’Kane. She is presently composing music and giving her voice to the poetry of Langston Hughes. She recently began working with the Music Maker Relief Foundation in their Next Generation program on the urging of her enthusiastic admirers Taj Mahal and the Carolina Chocolate Drops.
